Results & Routine

When will I actually notice a difference?

Light therapy works on consistency, not intensity.

  • Weeks 1–2: skin may feel calmer, with a subtle improvement in tone and radiance.
  • Weeks 4–6: skin may appear smoother, with a more even and refreshed look.
  • Weeks 8–12: continued use may help support firmness, elasticity, and overall texture.

Give the practice at least 8 weeks before evaluating results. They vary with skin type, consistency, and lifestyle.

How often can I use it?

3–5 times per week is the sweet spot. The NIR and LED wavelengths are completely non-invasive, so there's no recovery time and no risk to your skin barrier.

How long does a session take?

5 to 12 minutes, depending on the mode you choose. The mask is wireless and lightweight, so you can wear it on the couch, in bed, or wherever you want to unwind. Every mode auto-shuts off when complete — no timer needed. Just make sure your skin is clean before you start. See the prep ritual below for what's OK to layer.

What does an ideal weekly schedule look like?

A steady cycle of treatment and rest. Each session auto-shuts off when complete:

  • Monday: Anti-Aging, 10 minutes
  • Tuesday: Rest
  • Wednesday: Glow, 10 minutes
  • Thursday: Rest
  • Friday: Full Rejuvenation, 12 minutes
  • Saturday: Anti-Acne, 5 minutes
  • Sunday: Rest

Skin responds to consistency, not intensity. Your results will reflect your rhythm.

Before & After Care

How should I prep my skin before a session?

Set the stage with a clean, calm canvas:

  • Cleanse with a gentle, non-exfoliating cleanser. Skip acids beforehand.
  • Optional: a light hydrating mist or water-based hyaluronic essence. Water-based formulas don't block light. Allow to absorb fully — start when skin feels comfortable, not damp.
  • Skip oils, occlusives, sunscreen, and makeup. See the avoid list below for active ingredients to pause around sessions.
  • Tie hair back, remove jewelry that interferes with fit, and find a quiet space.
What should I apply after a session?

Lock in the calm with hydration and barrier care:

  • Hydrating mist or essence
  • Hydrating or peptide serum
  • Barrier moisturizer with ceramides or squalane
  • SPF 30+ the next morning

LED light boosts absorption, so your skincare works harder afterward.

What ingredients should I avoid around sessions?

Pause active ingredients and heat within 12 hours of a session:

  • Retinoids — retinol, retinal, tretinoin
  • AHAs — glycolic, lactic, mandelic
  • BHAs — salicylic acid
  • Vitamin C above 10%
  • Benzoyl peroxide and hydroquinone
  • Hot showers or saunas immediately after

These can sensitize your skin to light or compromise the barrier you're trying to support.

The Technology

Why two NIR wavelengths instead of one?

Each wavelength reaches a different depth. NIR 850nm drives cell repair in the dermis — that's where firmness comes from and where deep wrinkles and scarring smooth out. Deep NIR 940nm reaches even further to reduce inflammation, helping calm sensitive tissue and accelerate recovery. Stacking both targets concerns at multiple depths, which a single-wavelength mask can't reach. Note: Deep NIR 940nm is exclusive to AURA 4D.

What's the point of the 4D shape?

Flat masks miss the jawline, chin, and lower face — exactly where sagging shows up first. Rivata's contoured design wraps around those areas so every zone gets consistent light exposure, not just the cheeks and forehead.

Comfort & Safety

Does it feel hot during a session?

The opposite, actually. Magnetic cooling pads sit against your skin throughout the treatment, keeping things cool and calm. Most people say it feels more like a spa facial than a device.

Is it actually comfortable for the full session?

Very. Food-grade silicone, a raised nose bridge so it doesn't press on your face, and an adjustable strap that stays put. You forget you're wearing it.

I have sensitive skin — is this okay for me?

Generally, yes. The cooling module helps a lot here. Start with 5–10 minute sessions a couple of times a week and work your way up. If you have a diagnosed skin condition, are pregnant, or take photosensitizing medications, check with your dermatologist first.

Are there reasons I shouldn't use the mask?

Please consult a healthcare professional before use if:

  • You're pregnant
  • You take photosensitizing medications
  • You have a photosensitive condition (e.g. lupus) or another skin condition

Don't use on broken, irritated, or infected skin. Always put the mask on before turning it on, switch it off before removing, and keep your eyes closed during sessions to avoid direct light exposure to the eyes.

Not recommended for users under 18. If discomfort or irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional if symptoms persist.

Value

How is this different from going to a clinic?

Clinics use similar LED technology but charge per session and require appointments. Rivata gives you clinical-grade output at home — same wavelengths, comparable LED density, zero recurring cost. Most people recoup the price of the device within a few visits' worth of savings.
